Paperboy (1988 on NES) is one of the stranger arcade ports of the era: you pedal a BMX down a suburban street in a tilted diagonal view, hurling newspapers onto subscribers' porches while dodging dogs, lawnmowers, breakdancers, and Grim Reapers.

The twist of cruel delight: miss a subscriber and you lose them, but you're free to smash a non-subscriber's window with a perfect throw. After the route comes a bonus obstacle course.

The controls were famously tricky on a D-pad, but that just made a clean delivery run feel earned. Weird, charming, and unlike anything else on the shelf.
